April 2, 2020 Coronavirus Update: Updates to Essential Business Requirements; Stay at Home Order Extended to May 1

Recap of the press conference given March 25 by Governor Mike DeWine and Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Dr. Amy Acton:

  • Retail businesses must set a number of people that can be inside at one time

  • Setting up a panel to resolve disputes on what is an essential business

  • People returning from outside of Ohio asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Does not include people who work across state lines

  • Weddings still not regulated but receptions should have no more than 10 people and social distancing

  • Repurposingproject.com: asking for manufacturers to assist in producing necessary PPE

  • More than 468,000 people have filed for unemployment in Ohio- 100,000 more than the total number of people who filed in 2019

    • 300 employees have been added to unemployment phones and another 1,000 to be added by the end of next week.

    • State parks remain open but will be closed if they become overcrowded or if people aren’t practicing physical distancing.

  • 2,902 confirmed cases, 81 deaths, 802 hospitalizations, 260 ICU admissions
